Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Oncology Research Post-Doctoral Fellow will be under the direction of Dr. Paraic Kenny, the Director of the Oncology Research Laboratory, Kabara Cancer Research Institute and will focus on breast cancer research. The laboratory is supported by the Gundersen Medical Foundation and is located on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse college campus. The laboratory is focused on the use of complex 3D culture models and genetically engineered mouse models of the breast tumor microenvironment to identify, dissect and target key pro-tumorigenic signaling proteins produced by various cell types of the tumor microenvironment. The fellow will study the contributions of Amphiregulin to breast cancer progression using both cell culture and animal models (see our Nov 2015 paper in Cancer Research). In addition to basic mechanistic studies, the fellow will have the opportunity to participate in translational research projects as we are actively involved in translating some of our basic research findings to the clinic, in collaboration with breast oncologists in the Gundersen Health System.

The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D., and have significant first author publications in English language journals. We are looking for a highly ambitious and independent individual, who strives for a next position as Assistant Professor or independent Staff Scientist.Qualified individuals must have strong laboratory expertise in molecular and cell biology, and be prepared to work in a highly competitive environment. Ability to work independently, demonstrated creativity, and very high motivation are expected.
